The still relatively young British brand Unite has taken up the cause of producing 99% of simple quality components made of aluminum in its home base on the Welsh coast. Thanks to the use of high-quality CNC milling machines and a wide range of anodized colors, Unite products have enjoyed steadily growing popularity since the company was founded at the end of 2016 by former pro rider Andrew Cooper.

Aluminum 7075 T6, one of the hardest aluminum alloys on the market, was chosen for the production of the Grip Ring chainrings. In connection with the high-quality coatings, the result is an extremely durable chain ring that is not susceptible to wear. The extra wide design of the teeth, which are designed alternately thick and thin (narrow-wide), also ensures less wear and best chain guidance. Special millings in the tooth profile prevent the chain from separating uncleanly from the chainring with increasing wear. There is also enough space below the narrower teeth for the chainring to clean itself in muddy conditions. The Shimano version is compatible with both Shimano 12-speed Hyperglide chains and 11- and 12-speed chains from other manufacturers. The oval shape smoothes the power peaks in the pedaling cycle and thus also ensures more even power transmission and more grip on steep climbs. The color scheme of the chainring is special, here Unite Components offers 10 different Cerakote colors – which are unique in this way.
